Cartels

A cartel can be described as a group of individuals who participate in breaches of competition law such as bid-rigging, price-fixing and market sharing. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and the European Commission (EC) help to enforce competition law in the UK. Such cases can be dealt with in the civil or criminal courts. Those found to be breaching competition rules could face a prison sentence, a fine, or both, as well as disqualification as a director.  It is also possible for companies to take private actions for damages for loss suffered as a result of a breach of competition law.

Bright Line Law offer an advisory service to businesses under investigation by the CMA, and provide litigation services to those seeking a private action for breaches of competition rules. Bright Line Law is highly regarded as a specialist provider, winning the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers of 2017 award, as well as being Top Ranked within the UK Bar Chambers for 2018 and 2019.
