Laws on corporate criminal liability for economic crime ‘woefully inadequate’

Jonathan Fisher QC has written an article entitled, “Laws on corporate criminal liability for economic crime ‘woefully inadequate’” published in The Times today.

In the article, Jonathan calls for the expansion of corporate criminal liability and questions recent Government assertions that there is little evidence of corporate wrongdoing going unpunished. He states:

“The announcement this week that the SFO has dropped its prosecution against Olympus Corporation and Gyrus Group for allegedly misleading its auditors demonstrates once again the woeful inadequacy of Britain’s laws on establishing corporate criminal liability.”
