Colin King is an Academic Consultant with Bright Line Law and The White Collar Crime Centre, and an international expert in civil recovery and money laundering.

Colin is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Sussex and Joint Director of the Sussex Crime Research Centre. His previous academic positions included lectureships at the University of Manchester (2012-2015) and the University of Leeds (2009-2012). In 2011, Colin was a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Criminology at the University of Sydney.

Colin’s research and academic work focuses on financial crime generally with a specific interest in the area of civil recovery in different jurisdictions.  His expertise in the area of civil recovery and the proceeds of crime was recognized in March 2016 when Colin appeared before, and gave evidence to, the Home Affairs Select Committee Inquiry into POCA alongside Jonathan Fisher QC.

In addition, Colin sits on the editorial board of the Lloyds Law Report: Financial Crime and is a member of the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) Peer Review College. As of November 2014, Colin was appointed an Academic Fellow of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.
